Expectant Waiting

G=Goals O=Outlook (#coateisaGOAT)

There’s something powerful about waiting with hope—waiting not with passivity, but with trust and expectancy. Romans 8:25 reminds us,

“But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”

And Matthew 7:7-8 tells us to ask, seek, and knock—trusting that God will answer. But if you’re anything like me, waiting doesn’t come easily.

Earlier this week, during a therapy session, I found myself recognizing a familiar spiral. It’s a pattern I’ve repeated countless times: the anxious urge to control everything around me. Not because I want to run the world—but because deep down, my fear and anxiety tell me I have to. That if I don’t manage every outcome, something will fall apart. That if I slow down, I’ll let someone down.

Maybe you’ve been there too—rushing, overthinking, overworking—not out of inspiration, but out of fear. But what I’m learning (again and again) is this: those reactions are not who I am. They’re survival skills I picked up along the way. They once served a purpose. But they’re not serving me now.

Instead of racing through each day trying to prove my worth or control the outcome, I’m learning to pause. To breathe. To trust.

This week, I’m choosing to wait expectantly. Not anxiously. Not forcefully. But faithfully. I’m trusting that God hears my prayers, even when I don’t see the answers yet. I’m choosing to take things one day at a time, present and grounded, knowing that His timing is perfect—even when mine feels urgent.

So if you’re in a season of waiting, know this: it doesn’t mean you’re stuck or doing it wrong. Sometimes, it means you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be—growing in faith, building endurance, and being shaped for what’s next.

His will, not mine. His time, not mine.

And that’s enough.

With grace and hope,
Maggie

This week I will be present and wait with hope. How about you?
