Grant Yourself Some Grace

O=Outlook (#coateisaGOAT)

What is the definition of grace (in the context of forgiving your shortcomings)? According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary:

a: approval, favor,

b: mercy, pardon,

c: a special favor : privilege,

d: disposition to or an act or instance of kindness, courtesy, or clemency,

e: a temporary exemption : reprieve.

This week I am going to consciously grant myself grace.  I have not been as intentional as I should have with building my new habit.  Complete transparency, I woke up at 5:00 only twice.  My plate is completely full due to work and graduate class assignments.  Stress has triggered my old eating habits.  If I let myself, I could have a full-on pity party.  But not today, Satan!

Why not?  It’s all mindset.  I realize that all these things are happening and understand that faltering, even in my newly found state of positive vibration and high frequency, will happen.  It’s completely normal.

All this to say, last week when my funk hit me like a slap in the face because I didn’t pass the FTCE Computer Science Exam…because I gained five pounds…because April 2nd is the anniversary of my father’s death…because my kids weren’t here to dye Easter Eggs this weekend…because I feel inadequate at keeping it all together…I granted myself some grace.

The truth is things are going to fall apart sometimes.  I must be prepared to handle things as they come and acknowledge that no matter how bad things may seem.  I am so far from where I was this time last year.  There is so much beauty in that!  So, grace was earned, and grace is deserved.

This new week will be better.  I can feel it.  Here’s to “getting back on the horse” and trying again with building my new habit.  Let me know in the comments how you are doing with your new habit.  If you had a not-so-stellar week (like me), use the comments section below to vent.  You will feel better to get it off your chest; I do.

How fitting this topic is on Easter Sunday!  I hope you were able to enjoy your families and some of God’s Peace.  Have a great week sweet friend.  You are appreciated more than you know.
